What is UGC (University Grants Commission)

The University Grants Commission of India (UGC India) is a statutory body set up by the Government of India in accordance with the UGC Act 1956 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development and is charged with coordination, determination, and maintenance of standards of higher education. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disbursements of funds to such recognized universities and colleges. Its headquarters are in New Delhi and has six regional centers in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Bangalore.

What is UGC Journal?

The UGC-approved List of Journals contains journals identified by the Standing Committee on Notification of Journals.

The UGC-approved List of Journals include titles that have crossed a prescribed threshold on quality check criteria developed by the Members of the Standing Committee on Notification of Journals.

What are UGC approved journals?

Journals are the medium through which budding candidates publish their articles about their research. These sources are made available because of the UGC.

If the aspirants choose any private journal except for UGC approved journals for their research other than that, it is not considered as valid. As of now, the UGC Approved Journals list has now been replaced by UGC - CARE.

UGC aims to stimulate, empower, and help grow the Indian academia through its “Quality Mandate”. UGC aims to eradicate any plagiarised and sub-par material that might damage the reputation and standards of international research.
